What we repair on Android phones

• Screen and display — cracked glass, lines or patches on the display, a black screen, or touch that has stopped responding.
• Battery — fast drain, sudden shutdowns at a high percentage, or a battery that has started to swell and lift the back panel.
• Charging — a loose cable, slow or intermittent charging, or a phone that won't charge at all. Often it is lint in the port or a worn charging board, not the battery.
• Sound and calls — speaker, earpiece and microphone faults.

Replacement screens: why the part grade matters

Many mid-range and flagship Android phones use AMOLED displays. Replacement screens come in different grades, and some lower-cost screens for AMOLED phones use a different display technology. They can look less vivid, sit slightly thicker, use more battery, and may not work with an under-display fingerprint reader.

That is why the part grade is named on your quote before any work starts. You know exactly what is being fitted, and you can ask us to explain the options for your model.

Which branch: Express or Central?

Alfa-Fix Express, Kavanad handles walk-in repairs — screens, batteries, charging ports, speakers and software — and most walk-in repairs are done the same day.

Before you hand over your phone

• If the phone still works, back up your photos, chats and contacts first — to your Google account or to a computer. WhatsApp chats are backed up from inside WhatsApp (Settings › Chats › Chat backup).
• Take out your SIM card and memory card.
• For charging problems, bring the charger and cable you normally use.
• Tell us about any earlier repairs, drops or water exposure. It changes what we check first.
